Ok, so I'm looking to purchase either an AEM or Injen cai, but I've heard, due to the 3" piping on the Injen, that It's a doozie to install. Whereas, the AEM uses 2.5" piping and has a near perfect fit, despite the approx. 2 hp loss to the Injen...is this true?

They're all the same to install. Unless you're VERY careful on mounting the CAI section in behind the fender, you're gonna scratch it up a bit - regardless of AEM or Injen. Both will fit nicely, though.

In my opinion, at moving speed there is enough air forced into the engine bay that you will pick up a decent temperature rather than routing it into the fender well down by the ground which might pick up water when it raining and hydro-lock your motor. Remember, can't compress water.

you aren't going to hydrolock unless your filter is submerged in water, or you did a poor job installing it.

Unfortunately that's not true. Air is drawn in through the radiator and from under the car.... and is pushed out under the car. There's no place for the air to go underneath the hood, unless you have a vented hood (reverse cowl, etc). It's this very reason that my heat shield under my hood is melting due to the turbo manifold heat - not enough air is being pushed through to cool it.

really cant get enugh water into where the injen filter hangs unless you have water leaking into the cabin either.
IMO, they both are hard to install whichever one you pick, and IMO the injen one looks way nicer because of being thicker and i have driven through sheets of intense rain when i had it installed with no problems.

Here in Louisiana, stories of hydrolocking on cars with stock intakes is not to uncommon to happen. Maybe i should have directed that to the people who live in the high rain areas. I know during the summer it rains here everyday.

i could make a really bad jab at the flooding being a reason for the hydrolocking even with stock intakes.
but anyway, i think it would be hard to hydrolock with the injen cause the filter sits underneath the headlight, theres not even that much clean airflow from that spot. i only got the intake cause it was on sale, looked kickass, and made the car sound like a beast. specific low/mid gains could have been contested even with my dyno proving at least a peak gain.
