Well, I kicked around different colors and finally decided on white. All I've had time to do so far is the speedo bezel. I'm sanding down the center section now...more pics to come. :)

SO...Im kinda like stupid so break it down for me:
1.sand
2.primer
3.1st coat
4.second coat

OR
1.sand the shit out of it,no dups or holes in the piece
2. 1st coat then second coat
3. get frustrated and throw stuff

I'm finishing up the interior this week. I'm taking lots of pictures and will be posting a How-to/DIY as soon as I finish.

Here is a teaser though....I figured, if I'm painting all my silver parts white...surely I can't have my Sirius stick out like a sore thumb. Here are a few pics....I just finished putting it back together so I'll take a better finished pic in the sunshine tomorrow. The last pic is, of course, a before shot.

Here are some finished pics of the speedo ring, the center dash section and my Sirius.

Gotta finish the window/door lock parts and the trim on the steering wheel this week. What do you think so far?

Looks like good work Kevin. I think I'd like to do mine to match the exterior paint color (BSP) sometime. How did you decide what color you wanted to paint?

I think it looks great. My thoughts would be to match my BOP...would've never thought of the white color...which is much more unique.

Since I asked once, and never found...I would like to ask again...is this paint or powder coat?

Here's my recipe for destruction...

1. Scotchbrite or #000 steel wool til it's all nice and matte.
2. Tack cloth to get all the stuff off.
3. Wipe it down with prep-all or similar
4. Spray a few light coats of adhesion promoter if you're painting plastics...Then, lay down the base coat...I use very light coats and spray from all 4 directions.
5. Let it dry good...at least a few hours.
6. Wet sand with 1500 grit just enough to make it dull color and smooth to the touch...I've been known to use the #000 for irregular shaped pieces.
7. Tack cloth, prep all, and another coat...wet sand...repeat until you're happy...lol... I generally lay down about 4 coats of color.
8. Final wet sand with 2000 grit, tack cloth, prep-all.
9. Clear coat...be careful with the clear, it can be tricky.
10. Wet sand, tack cloth, prep all...another coat of clear, etc, etc.

It's a lot of work, but I can see my reflection in my center stack now!

Can't powder coat most plastics....they can't handle the heat!

Thanks for the compliment!

No, this is strictly paint!! I've been able to powder coat SOME plastic parts but this stuff is so thin it would never stand up to the heat of the oven.

Thanks Toast!

I ended up deciding on white because I wanted to carry the white from the roof inside. I'm also going to pc the wheels white whenever I get the time so I just thought it would all tie together nicely.

Thank you, Sir. I am new to powder coating but your other thread about it...raised my curiosity. By not knowing for sure about these parts...it left me wanting to know MORE & MORE!

I saw something on OCC...not ECC...where they powder coated some stuff and I really liked it, but could not remember if it was strictly metal or some plastics too. Without your reply...I may have tried to powder coat my interior parts...only to find a melted mess! lol

Those are really :coolp:looking...and the white does STAND out BIG TIME!

Thanks for expanding your answer for me! :pilot:
