OMG I got hotchkis sway bars that were made for my 07 tC, and I ran into an extremely unexpected problem with them and need some advice! The shop that was putting them on for me showed me how the sway bar end links studs are NOT nearly long enough for what they need to be, and while he managed to put one of the sway bars on, it is only being held on by a few threads on each side, and he says he thinks it is dangerous! I'm unclear on how this can happen for sway bars MADE for this vehicle! Does anyone know why, or how this can be fixed?

i just got mine installed, they said the stock sway bar end links are at a crazy angle and i should look for some that were made for this application, but not that it was unsafe... ive been riding them for a few weeks now with out problem... just re tighten after a few miles...

If you're only hanging on by a few threads, there's a good chance it's gonna strip out the nuts and stab links. It's not "life-threatening" dangerous if that's what he made it sound like, you'll just have some shitty cornering/ body roll and a nasty rattle. Have you checked out anything TRD for the car? They make sway bars w/no problems that I've seen.

No, I went all Hotchkis, and I like the hotchkis springs and the rear sway makes ALL the difference in the handling!! OMG it's awesome, and I haven't even gotten the front one on yet, it's at least two hours labor, so I'm trying to figure out a cheaper way than 200 bucks to get that front one on, but more pressing is the rear problem of it not being on well enough! I want them TIGHT so I can USE them for what they are made for!! CORNERING!!!

FWIW, running the rear Hotchkis bar alone makes the car dangerous (risk of oversteer and spinning out)- that's why Hotchkis only sells their sways as a complete set.

Be careful until you get the front one on.

Yeah I just looked up on TIS how to remove that front sway bar and sweet lord do they have that thing buried... they're sayin to disconnect lower control arm and drop the damn crossmember and put the engine on a support... I'm thinkin the shop you're goin to might have a shortcut like , i dunno, cut it out... if not, I would guess at least another hour labor- they must have a lot of faith that it's a fail-safe part. Even just to do the front sway bar bushings calls for 1.5 hours labor. :book:

The shop told me straight up it's at least two hours labor to put the front sway on, but that's not what Im worried about now, I'm trying to figure out the way to get my rear sway secure. It's ON, and the car drives great, but the end link stud only goes about 50% into the nut that's holding it on both sides, it's just not long enough, and I'm having a hard time understanding how this happens with a part DESIGNED for my car!
