I'm thinking you go with the carbon fiber vinyl. I never seen that before, and since its a transformer theme thats like "metal" and robots are metal. I would only go with the red if you were doing a strictly autobots theme since optimus primes main colors are red and blue

I'd say it depends on HOW you do transformer . . .
With the vehicle AS a Transformer itself: Carbon fiber.
- It would add to the whole look of the vehicle as a transforming robotic lifeform in its covert form.
With a general theme, using OLD-SCHOOL references and graphics: red
- It would help push toward the animated series from the 1980s and the bold colors they used in their vehicles, logos, and the like. I'd also push more to use old-style graphics, icons, and tie-ins.
With a general "modern" transformer theme, using movie-type graphics: carbon fiber
- It would be more fitting with the robot style from the films, as well as the graphics, iconography, and the like.
With a specifically "Optimus Prime" theme: red
- It would work with the red/blue of the whole character, both original era and modern.
So, I'd say BOTH could work, but whichever you do would (in turn) determine how you'd better do the other Transformer graphics and emblems around the xB.
You could also use the blue/mint graphics of the modern animated Shockwave, which looks to be based on the xB2:

That could be done with vinyl graphics, some gold paint, and a visit to a toy store (to get a toy, to show what you did).

Where are you getting your carbon vinyl from? Have any pics of what it looks like?

That'll look good!
I'd use chrome and/or black logos with it, if I was doing it in CF.
