Having a z110 installed in 2010 xB this Weds. Ideally would like antennas on roof, but installer said "normally put them on dash". He said we could talk about it when I get down there.
I am sure outside costs more and not too thrilled about drilling the skin, where do people normally put them?
Any reception issues if they are inside? On dash good?
thanks!

I like putting them on the dash. No drilling required for on the dash or on the roof. Reception for gps has never been an issue for me on any car I've put the antenna on the dash. Satellite can be a little finiky on the dash sometimes but still gives you great reception.
Its kinda 6 one way half dozen the other. Its really your preference. But if the antennas are inside there's no chance of them messing up your paint if they get hit like when you go through a car wash or something.
Just my $.02

Thanks Josh,
For roof mount, if no drilling required, how/where does the cable get routed?

Now this is how I do it (other installers have other methods) when I install an ant on the roof.
Once the antenna is placed there usually is some kind of rubber trim you pull back and little and slide the wire under as you go. To get it in the car there are rubber grommets for the wires that go to your door or hatch. Make a small slice in the grommet and push the connector through. You don't want it too big cause then water could leak in as it follows the wire. I've also put silicon at the slit where the wire comes in but its usually innecessary.
Most ppl get the ant by their hatch so there's a prettygood size grommet there to get into the car. Whatever you don't let the installer just pull back you rubber seal of the doors or hatch pass the wire throught and then put the seal back on. Its lazyness and pinches the wire and 9 outta 10 times the antenna stops working all together. Just saves you a headache.
Hopw my rambling helped :)

This is great info for a newbie to upgrading to have before they meet with the installer.
I will post back when it is done with an update.
