View Full Version : Wiring LED's in Parallel?

I'm trying to work on a project but I am not exactly sure about the wiring on this. If I were to wire about 50 LED's off the car, would it be better to wire in parallel? I'm worried about draining the battery quickly. I calculated 7.5ohms per LED but does every LED need to have a resistor? If I need to add a resistor to every LED, what ohms do these need to be rated at?

I wouldn't add resistors to each LED, those resistors get very hot and you would have too much of a possibility of causing a fire. Go to Oznium and get their pre-wired superflux LED's. They're already ready to go!

i would wire them in parrell serries like eack full door is one seeries dash/cup holder ect.

So should it be in series? If I wire them in series, I can wire 3-4 of them without resistors. But that would need alot of wire... If I wire them in parallel, I have the resistors and I don't mind soldering. I just don't want to drain the battery by have 50 of these wired...

50 shouldnt drain the battery, at least not with a day or during a car show. with all the leds/led bars/led strips i have on mine, i have well over 50 and leave them all running for hours at a time at the car shows. even my angels eyes that run off of 110 inverters havent drained my battery. you should be fine as far as that goes
