Does anyone know about the PAC swc-x? From what i understand its a steering wheel control interface for after market stereos. I doubt anyone knows if it works with the new xB, but does it work with the 1st gen. Box or tC? If so, I'd say my chances are pretty good?

:thanks:

what radio are you putting in? PAC has a couple of different steering wheel control interfaces for different aftermarket radios that will work the Scions.
as for the new xB the PAC stuff should still work.

They have a new model call the swi-jack; it replaced the x. Its what I have for my kenwood in my tC.

I've got the swi-jack for the Alpine HU in my 1st gen xB. Easy install, but a bit of a delay between hitting the button and getting a response from the HU. Overall, a good product.

Go here and look at App. Guide:

http://www.pac-audio.com/default.asp

There is no steering wheel control listed for the new xB. You may give them a call or check out others that make a similar product. You could also just pull the HU and check that you have a 20 pin plug like you see here:

http://www.pac-audio.com/swixprogramming/showstepbystep.asp?RadioGroupPioneer=0&InterfaceChecked=2&mmSearch=Scion&Submit2=Search+Vehicles&ID=423

This is the plug in the radio that comes from the steering wheel controls. If the plug is the same, I'd say it would work.

Most likely it's the same exact control as in the tC.

If you want to avoid all that madness the Eclipse Nav units are plug and play. Only thing you really need to do is intall the GPS antenna, and the speed sense wire. The wiring already comes ready for Toyota vehicles. I own the AVN-5435, nice unit. Im happy with it.

This is true but the steering controls still dont work.... still need either the x or the new one everyones talking about... Honeslty ditch the steering wheel controls... with the x I couldnt get all the buttons to work for what they were soppose to be.

see, there have been people who have been able to just plug in their eclipse double DINs and their steering wheel control work with it already.

and ive seen it plug in, there was a dealership that was adding them to the tCs and they plugged it, i asked about if there may be a difference in year makes of the unit and they said that there shouldnt and that since toyota is the parent of eclipse it should be the same for the double dins at least.

so as far as i can tell at some point they either changed it and took that part out or added it in or just have it on the one model i dont know how to explain it otherwise.
