View Full Version : Undermount Cameras?

I have been thinking up a device lately that would include pin cameras with magnet mounts, mini-mics and a 6 - 7" LCD dash display that could be integrated into the sound system.
With this device, I could point a "camera + mic" set at various parts of my motor, under carriage, wheels, etc. and tune into it on the display and sound system while cruising at 70 - 80mph.
This idea keeps popping into my head. Does this sound like a good idea? Has it been done already? Or could I be completely INSANE?
...hello...is this thing on...?

I thought so. :-(
Well, my thoughts were to watch the belts, inside of the rim, brakes and stuff that moves.
:wallb: I am getting some therapy Right now!

why do that? you can't watch and drive is what I'm saying you could probably do it but I wouldn't suggest the watch and drive thing, and the cams would get wet and might burn out, you would need waterproof pinhole cams

Sounds like something you would watch after doing a long run or something. Maybe something you can do just to verify if something has happened to your car, like a flat and you want to be sure where the flat came from by watching the video over if you indeed are recording it. heh, who knows what in your head boi.!

JW isn't a very good judge of sanity.........lol
That actually sounds like a pretty cool idea as long as you are good at multi-tasking. I watch movies while driving all the time.......lol I can tell you that the movie King Kong lasts almost exactly the amount of time it takes to drive from Tulsa, Ok. to Paris, Tx. :)
(I'm not endorsing that, please don't sue me. )

I've wanted to put one in the tc front bumper lower grill or side vent....mainly to be able to see road debris (when following a truck) or thickness of traffic (in traffic jams)....plus I think it would make a neat video if I were to set it to record.

only for shows man, I mean I can understand putting one at each corner to get rid of blind spots and stuff like that and watch for debris, eh but then again I'm not a motor guy I prefer show to go

Cameras are great, I use them from this place, they work great on bikes, boats & bolted to suspension components

Thanks KillerGlass for that link.
Cameras now-a-days are VERY CHEAP and SMALL. If you like to make gadgets and play around with electronics, you can find TONS of stuff at www.electronicproducts.com (http://www.electronicproducts.com) and www.prosilica.com/products/allmodels.html (http://www.prosilica.com/products/allmodels.html)
I have many others if anyone is needs them. Those helmet-cams that KillerGlass are perfect for the cause, too. 8-)
