xB-2 HT Shoe Shopping

Shopping for rims and tires soon (well actually in about another 10K mi). I have a Hypnotic Teal xB-2 ('09) running stock. This will be my first attempt and modding it out. I am a unique kinda guy; don't want the same wheels everyone else has got. Like the racing look of stars and the shine of chrome. But neither of those choices are concrete. I think the xB-2 is low enough for me so I would like to stay away from anything that would make the body sit lower. I'm thinking 18s on low-pros but with enough tread that if I hit a pot hole I won't destroy the rim. Looking at spending about $1K out-the-door.

Let me have it... Suggestions?!?
