First of all Id like to say hello to everyone as a new tC owner and just met some of the great guys out here in OKC. Just thought id get some opinions on the Stage 0 kit from ZPI, Id really like to go for a Stage 1 kit with Emanage but I really cant afford it, I dont plan on making this any kind of xtreme build, not planning on building the motor or anything, so just curious for someone on a budget just wanting a little extra hp to the wheels is the zpi stage 0 a good pick?

No. You absolutely need fuel management. The stock ECU won't hack it at all. Do NOT get the stage 0 without engine management thinking it'll be reliable and will work ok.

Ahh ok very good to know - exactly what i was thinking no way the ecu would keep up. What are some other possibly better alternatives to the emanage? thanks for the help!

Stage 0 is a great pick, and honestly you need to call the company, and talk to ZPI and see what they can do for you. You might get general info and opinions on the forums but the company themselves are really the ones that can give you the exact information you are looking for.

Unichip's the alternative right now. Dezod's still working on the AEM Piggyback.
You can still get the ZPI Stage 0, but I'd get fuel management with it, as well as a BOV.

You can blow an engine whether you have it or not...nothing like scaring the guy before he even has a chance to get a kit, which is AGAIN...why I say he needs to talk to the vendors and get ALL the information

no dude you don't really need it. with my emanage kenny barely changed my stock fuel curve. he actually made it a bit lean on very low throttle and added a bit on the high end but jesus christ dude you don't need it at 6 lbs of boost. just because you have a greddy kit and it sucks doesn't mean you need to take everything that happened on your car and apply it to all the other kits.

I'm not saying you'll kill your car without it, but I know how bad the stock ECU is. I'm just recommending to a newbie that this is what you SHOULD do to prevent problems.

That's good. The gist of what I'm saying is that if this guy gets the Stage 0 kit, to get Fuel management - it can save him in the future (him as in the engine and his wallet). Everyone that I know of that has the stage 0 has fuel management.

350+ Stage 0's have been sold since there creation. Not EVERY last one of them has E-manage on it. How many have you seen have problems? Next to NONE. E-manage is not a TABOO thing to run without, just be sure to run the 6 PSI spring instead of the 8. The ECU will run rich, it's been proven. The benefits to have the E-manage is so that you can lean the fuel out and pick up a little extra HP at the same time while increasing your MPG.
The MAF pipe is specifically engineered to allow the ECU to run the 6 PSI of boost without the addition of Fuel management. Anything above that, and you need Fuel management.

Travis knows what he is talking about. You CAN run a Stage 0 SAFELY with no engine management. Hundreds of tC's are doing that thing right now with no problems.

How is this for a Cookie Cutter....
There are MORE reported Blown motors running Fuel management than there are of Stage 0's without fuel management.

But still, that is an impressive statistic. If running without management were so dangerous, there would be a lot more blown motors than there are now. Most of the motors that have been blown are because of stupidity of the owner, be it the install, cranking up the boost, or any number of other things.

Exactly! When you go F/I, maintenance increases. Gotta stay up on the game, or it's your wallet that will be hurting when it's not time to buy parts yet.
My name is Travis, and I'm a Boost-A-Holic.

Jersey places aren't that great for installs. Go to Ripp Mods in Staten Island.
